Formal Women Wear for Your Interview

Dressing up for an interview is a must if you want to land that job, but of course, you need to dress right. Preparing for an interview can be quite hectic because a lot of times you don’t know how to get that perfect look. This is quite important because many times you are unable to succeed in your interview in spite of putting your great efforts and performance because of the bad impression of what your dress code seems to convey.

Wear something that is muted in color such as a two piece dark grey or dark blue business suit for men as it is the ideal wear on the day of an interview. Formal women wear can consist of dark colored button down shirt and slacks.

A white long sleeved dress shirt that is neatly and has a good fit would look great if you don’t feel like wearing something dark, works well with formal women wear too.

Ties for men should always be non-distracting and plain in color. Conservative dark blue or dark red neck tie made of 100% pure silk is a winner.

For women, if a plain colored ribbon would complement an outfit then that would be great. Nothing too flamboyant though.

When it comes to shoes, wear a clean and polished conservative dress shoes. Black lace ups if possible could be a great choice. Ladies can go for teardrop heeled shoes in dark colors as well, nothing too bright and loud. Socks should always be dark, black will be well suited for an interview and for women, a clean pair of stockings if necessary for the look especially when wearing skirts. We are assuming that the skirt is of acceptable length, around the knee would be great and nothing shorter than that.

Belts should always match the shoes for men and for women who are wearing slacks as well.

A well groomed hair is a necessity so make sure you have a hairstyle that is neat before the interview, men should opt for a clean short hair.

Mustaches should also be neat as they often have a negative impact.
