WikiFashionista Summer 2011 Beauty Product Reviews: Stila Cosmetics

Summer’s here fashionistas and there’s an extra spring in your freshly pedicured step for good reason: We actually can’t help but love this time of year because the sun actually increases our serotonin levels, the “happy” moderators in our brain that lift our mood. (And you thought your new, cheery outlook was just about all the pool parties, cute sundresses, and fun new makeup trends to try.) But as all of us can agree, a surefire way to burst that summer lovin’ bubble is to spot yourself in the mirror with your pretty makeup literally melting off your face. If that brings back painful memories from summers of your past, you’re not alone. While most of us know how to treat our skin during the far more forgiving climates of fall, spring and winter (moisturize like it’s your job!), keeping makeup from melting in the scorching heat of summer is a battle we often lose.

Beauty Product Reviews #3 Pick: Melt-Proof Makeup Tip – Stila Cosmetics Crush Lip and Cheek Stain

To prevent your lipstick from bleeding, use lip stains instead of fussing with lipstick and liner. Rodriguez loves Stila Cosmetics Crush Lip and Cheek Stain, $24, which he says is “wonderful for summer.”

Beauty Product Reviews #2 Pick: Multipurpose product – Stila Cosmetics Convertible Color

Kae recommends carrying a 2-in-1 product in your bag. “When I’m working in Miami, I’d be lost without Stila Cosmetics Convertible Color, $25. I quickly dab on a little color to cheeks and lips to instantly brighten the face,” she says.

Beauty Product Reviews #1 Pick: Bright Eyes Makeup Tip – Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day Eyeliner

Lately, blue eyeliner has been everywhere. Granted, blue eye makeup tends to come back in some form or new fashion trend every spring/summer because it’s so fresh, fun, and decidedly un-fall/winter, but this year, it’s having a major moment. I’m sure you’ve heard that blue, whether it be in eyeliner, eye shadow, or mascara, makes the whites of your eyes appear brighter and makes your eyes pop.

As you can see here, the Stila Cosmetics felt tip applicator offers a lot of control, so you can get a super fine line or a nice thick line, which allows you to be subtle or bold. The indigo (deep peacock blue) color is nice too, which allows for a pop of fun color that’s still elegant and office-appropriate.

And like the name says, it does literally stay all day. No smudging, no flaking, no running, no smearing, no fading, no traveling, no budging. No primer needed. Especially in the summer when it’s more absolutely hot and humid, a product like this is a necessity.

So yeah, get your blue eyeliner on.

Beauty tricks:
• Lining your top lash line and the outer third of your lower lash line with a thin, fine line for a subtle defining and brightening effect
• Using it with navy mascara and/or eye shadow for a bold, fashion forward look
• Using it with a neutral palette to give some oooomph
• Drawing on a thick, cat eye for some serious va-va voom
• This product comes in browns, blacks and blues

Stila Cosmetics are available this Summer at stilacosmetics.com and at beauty depot sephora.com
